Gems stones have a magical healing power in them. One is advised to wear gemstones in order to overcome difficulties in life or to reduce the effects or influence of adversities. However, there are certain pooja’s that must be performed before wearing a gemstone in order to increase its benefic effects and reduce any kind of adverse effects. There are necessary rituals that must be performed in order to awaken the power that is stored in the gem stones. A ritual helps in releasing the vibrations from a gemstone in a faster manner. Each stone carries the traits and attributes of a particular planet. The rituals must be performed on a day that is closely associated to the gem stone so that its benefits can be attained at the maximum level. You can read about the associated day and time for a particular gemstone. Even the metals are closely related to gem stones. It is very essential to use the correct metal with gem stones so that you can derive maximum benefit out of it. Method of Puja for Wearing Gemstones
Ruby

Puja for wearing ruby must be done on Sunday. It must be done in the “marshora’ between 5 am to 6 am and 12 noon to 1pm. You will require a red silk cloth, wheat, dhoop sticks, lamp, 21 yellow flowers, and prasad or rava upma. Spread the silk cloth before the idol of god and put wheat on it. Wash the gemstone ring and apply sandal paste and Kumkum on it and place it on the red cloth. Now light up the lamp that has 5 faces. Burn dhoop and perform Puja to the ring. Offer flowers and upma and then wear the ring. Once the ring is worn, donate jaggery to maximize the effects.
Surya mantra
Ashwa Dwajaaya Vidhmahe, Paasha Hasthaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Surya Prachodayath
When you have finished the Pooja, recite the Surya mantra for 108 times and divide the flower into 5 parts and distribute among the family members.
Pearl
The puja for wearing pearl should be done on Monday during the “chandra hora”, i.e 6am-7am or 8pm-9pm.
You will need one plate, kalash, rice, curd, jasmine flower and an idol of shiva-parvati. Pour curd on kalash and place the pearl ring on it, apply kumkum, sandal paste and turmeric on the kalash. Then place the kalash on top of plate filled with rice. Close the kalash with another plate and place the photo or idol of shiva parvati on it. Perform aarti and place flowers before the gods and goddess. After completing the aarti, take rice and perform aarti of the moon on rice place. Offer kheer as Prasad and wear the pearl ring.
Moon Mantra
Padma Dwajaaya Vidhmahe, Hema Roopaya Dheemahi, Tanno Soma Prachodayath

Emerald
Pooja for wearing emerald must be performed on Wednesday during the Buddh hora, i.e. 6am-7am or 1pm-2pm.You will need a plate, kalash made of steel or silver, rice, sandal kumkum, betel leaves, coconut, green cloth, garland, milk, saffron, cardamom, mishri, camphor, rosewater and anything to offer as Prasad.
Take a plate and put rice on it. Make three lines from sandal paste on the kalash, for five times. Put kalash over the rice plate, then pour milk into kalash along with cardamom, mishri, camphor, saffron and rose water. Put 5 betel leaves on the kalash and along with a coconut and apply sandal and kumkum to the coconut. Put green cloth, garland and chant the lakshmi mantra for 324 times. Offer Prasad. Wear the emerald ring when the Pooja gets over. Donate green gram at last.
MANTRA 
OM BRAM BRIM BROM SAH BUDHAY NAMAH
Red Coral

The puja for wearing red coral should be done on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday in the “mars hora”, i.e. Tuesday: 6-7am or 1-2pm, Thursday: 7-8am or 2-3pm and Sunday: 5-6 am or 12-1pm. You will need two red silk clothes, copper plate, toor dal, red flowers, ragi and honey. Place the red silk cloth before the deity and put toor dal on it. Then place copper plate on it. Now repeat the same process with another silk cloth by placing it over the earlier one. Wash the coral ring, apply sandal paste and kumkum. Take flowers in multiples of three and tie them to the ring with red thread and place it on the tur dal.
Perform puja on tuesday and repeat it for 9 times, each tuesday. Wear ring on the ninth day after puja. Offer honey as prasad and recite the mars mantra and perform puja with ragi. once the puja is complete, donate masoor dal in red cover.
Mars Mantra
Veera Dwajaaya Vidhmahe, Vigna Hastaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Bhowma Prachodayath
Diamond

Pooja for wearing diamond should be done on Friday during the Shukra Hora, i.e. 6-7 am or 1-2pm. You will need a triangular shaped plate, blue silk cloth being cut into triangular shape, rajma, sandal, Kumkum, 5 kind of flowers, fruits, and sweets, 30 betel leaves, 5 blouse pieces, 5 betel nuts, camphor and turmeric pieces. Take the plate and put the blue cloth over it. Place diamond ring after applying Kumkum and sandal on it. Recite Lakshmi mantra for 108 times, followed by shukra mantra for 108 times. Repeat the process for 5 times with 5 different flowers. After the puja is over, offer 5 types of sweets and fruits. Now wear the diamond ring. Distribute betel leaves, sweets, betel nuts, flowers, fruits, blouse pieces to five ladies and complete the Pooja.
Lakshmi Mantra
Maha Devaicha Vidhmahe, Vishnu Patnaicha Dheemahi, Tanno Lakshmi Prachodayath
Shukra Mantra
Ashwa Dwajaaya Vidhmahe, Dhanur Hasthaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Shukra Prachodayath
Yellow sapphire

Puja for wearing yellow sapphire ring must be performed on Thursday during the guru hora, i.e. 6-7am or l-2pm.
You will need yellow cloth, Bengal gram, sandal, Kumkum, marigold flowers, Kheer made of jaggery and moong dal. Spread the yellow cloth before God and put grams on it. Apply Kumkum and sandal on the ring and place it on the dal. Take marigold flowers and recite lalita sahasranama. Take the gram and recite guru mantra for 108 times. Offer Kheer and donate gram after wearing the ring.
Guru Mantra
Vrishabha Dwajaaya Vidhmahe, Gruni Hasthaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Guruh Prachodayath
Neelam (Blue Sapphire)

Puja for wearing the gemstone neelam should be done on any Saturday during 6-7am or 1-2pm in the afternoon. You will need iron or steel plate, betel lamp, black til, sandal, Kumkum, blue flowers and eight pieces of black cloth. Keep the iron or steel plate and light the steel lamp. Spread til over the plate. Wash the ring and apply Kumkum and sandal paste on it and place it on the plate. Recite the shani mantra for 108 times. Offer prasad of rice mixed with til. Offer the rice and black cloth to the beggars or 10 people along with Rs. 10 each person. When the Pooja is over, take the ring to Ayyappa temple. Perform the Puja and then wear the blue sapphire ring.
Shani Mantra
Kaka Dwajaaya Vidhmahe, Kadga Hasthaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Mandha Prachodayath
Gomeda
Pooja for wearing Gomeda should be performed on Wednesday between 6-7am and 1-2pm. You will need a snake idol, brown cloth, 1 kg black Urad dal, sandal, Kumkum, 22 coins in same denominations, yellow rice, 16 flowers and prasad made out of milk and plantain. Place the snake idol in front and spread the brown cloth around it. Again spread the dal. Wash the ring and apply Kumkum and sandal on it. Take one flower and tie it around the ring with red thread. Place the ring over dal. Place the flowers and 22 coins around the ring. Take yellow rice and recite the Rahu mantra. Offer milk when the Puja gets over. Divide the cloth into 17 parts and place Urad dal on every piece along with one coin. Make them into a bundle and donate to 17 beggars. Put the remaining 5 coins in your cash box.

Naaga Dwajaaya Vidhmahe, Padma Hasthaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Rahu Prachodayath
Cats Eye
The Pooja for Cats eye should be performed on Wednesday between 6-7am and 1-2pm or 8-9pm. You will need one snake idol, brass plate, red or grey cloth, horse gram, sandal, Kumkum, curd for offering and one bowl of sugar. Place the snake idol in front, place the brass plate and spread the red or grey cloth over it. Wash the cat’s Eye ring and apply Kumkum and sandal and place it on the plate. Recite the Ketu mantra for 108 times and when the Puja is over, offer curd as prasad. Wear the ring and lastly, donate sugar with the bowl.
